Retired or gently nudged and told the seats gone to the Wookie, go gracefully and have some sort of ambassador role

He's had a bloody good innings though

I think it was his decision and he made it some time ago. All the silly season rumours have assumed he was retiring so I think it has been an open secret for quite a while.

A nice stat is that (assuming he doesn't miss any races before the end of the season) his last race will also be his 250th.
