Do you want to post a tribute about your favourite retired drivers, perhaps you want to discuss the rantings of the MIT (men in tweed). They thought they were safer when they retired, perhaps not mumblers!! How about a tribute to those that are not drivers but still in the game?

no the best racer of the last thirty years..... 31 wins and 1 wdc.

like the title of the thread too.with jim clark and even moaning jackie there is some dispute about britains best.

but our nige was englands best.sir stirling was perhaps a possible rival but most people who saw him race are pushing up the daisies a long time ago.

Sorry I'm a BIG Nigel Mansell fan, but to say Britian's best I think is wrong(IMO). Its all about WDC's and if you don't think thats fair then its down to start/win/points ratios. I will agree that Nige was the MOST popular British driver and a true great, but MOST people would agree that Jackie and Jim are the more successful and talented drivers(especially Jim Clark!)?! Not having a dig at Nigel,as I said I'm a MASSIVE fan and supported him when he was racing.

Just think the WDC mean the most, otherwise DC is Britians most successful driver.........mmmmm.........let me think?!..............NO

Anyway back to Nige, was one of the most exciting and commited racers I had the pleasure to watch. 1992 was an exceptional year for Nigel fans. The following year was also a great year watching him teach some of the Indy boys how its done..........FANTASTIC!

I was split in 1994/95 with all the DC/Nige debate on who would get the second seat at Williams. I really wanted Nige to return, but being from Scotland also wanted DC to get his chance.

Nigel was from a particular strong era of F1 racing, and if it wasn't for bad luck could have been a triple champion?! To get 31 wins in a time of Senna, Prost, Piquet and Schumacher is fantastic and proves he is one of the all-time greats IMO.

perhaps there should be a "marmite" section where it people can say what they want and people know before hand that things could be a bit wild.

debate is going engender a variety of feelings in people but it just ain't worth it to take things too seriously
