Lotus Boss Peter Warr

Do you want to post a tribute about your favourite retired drivers, perhaps you want to discuss the rantings of the MIT (men in tweed). They thought they were safer when they retired, perhaps not mumblers!! How about a tribute to those that are not drivers but still in the game?

Former Lotus boss Peter Warr dies
Wednesday 6th October 2010

Peter Warr, who was best known as a former team boss of the Lotus Formula 1 outfit, has passed away.

Although he enjoyed some minor success racing himself, famously winning the 1963 Japanese Grand Prix at Fuji in a Lotus sportscar, it was in team management that Warr made his name.

Having been invited by Lotus founder Colin Chapman to help run the F1 squad at the end of 1969, Warr played a key role in Jochen Rindt's title triumph in 1970 and Emerson Fittipaldi's successful 1972 campaign.

When Mansell left Lotus at the end of 84, Warr came out with the famous quote

"Nigel Mansell will never win a Grand Prix as long as I have a hole in my ar5e"

Boy did Nigel keep reminding him of it ....
