Steps to block:
Open Windows Explorer and navigate to windows/system32/drivers/etc/hosts (note: Win98 users may find the hosts file in the windows folder)
Open the hosts file in Notepad – hosts file does not have an extension
Add the following two lines to the hosts file and save
127.0.0.1 www.google-analytics.com
127.0.0.1 ssl.google-analytics.com
Save and close the file
www.veign.com/blog/2007/01/29/how-to-bl ... analytics/
this site http://winhelp2002.mvps.org/hosts.htm gives a list of unwanted sites to block using the host trick here http://winhelp2002.mvps.org/hosts.txt
here's my question, concerning the 'save and close' statement, as the host file doesn't have an extension when you save and close you end up with the original hosts file and then the hosts.txt file that you've added the "127.0.0.1 ... " lines.
is that correct or what extension do you use when you save and close the hosts file you opened in Notepad... ?
